Impact on neighbors

There are 15 occupied residences that are immediately adjacent to or across the street from the concrete plant. Some are under 100 feet away (and uphill, closer to the emissions stack). 5 of the houses (those owned by Mr. Jerry Coates, James & Virginia Hoyle – 2 homes, Jason Rathbone and Carolyn Lester – 2 homes) all are closer than the 100 meter safe limit set by other EPAs.

2 adjacent neighbors are under the care of their Drs for pulmonary diseases. One of the Drs. states that:

“It is my professional opinion that the proposed concrete plant that is being viewed for placement across from his (the patient under his care) house would adversely affect his health and necessitate more frequent hospitalizations and probably make his current residence uninhabitable.”

Letters from Dr Domby may be found here and letter from Dr Mcain may be found here. Both are Drs with Asheville Pulmonology regarding the impacts of the concrete plant on the health of patients under their care.
